The violinistic qualities of the classical cadenzas, especially those by Joseph Joachim, Sam Franko et al. , remain unchallenged, but they do no longer meet today's demands in terms of stylistically adequate performance practice. The great violinist and teacher Eduard Melkus has reworked them, retaining their most important elements and adapting them in the spirit of contemporary Mozart interpretation.
