After a cleaning spree, the whole gang at the North Pole is delighted to find quite a number of boxes left over from the fabulous 50's. As the reindeer and elves dig in, they find great stuff, including Frisbees, Hula Hoops and other things still popular today. A box of 45 RPM records is cause for celebration as the whole gang gets ready to "Rock Around the Shop Tonight. " It becomes clear that most of the newly discovered "leftovers" are still hot gift items, so a special news bulletin is announced from WXMAS News, where Santa tells children to stop sending Christmas lists. Instead, he wants letters from them explaining how they've been good this year. A special "letter writing" scene follows, as children sing "Santa, Be Good to Me."
