The second of Schubert's two song cycles set to Wilhelm Muller's poetry, Winterreise is a beautiful, haunting composition. It was written originally for tenor voice -- and it is so presented in this volume -- but Schubert himself encouraged transposition into other vocal ranges. Pianists and singers alike will delight in the sturdy spiral binding of this and other Polonius editions, which allows the score to lie flat when it is opened to any page.
