Totally unknown just a few years ago, Golovanov is no longer a stranger to choirs in America and elsewhere outside of Russia. This Cherubic Hymn, his first published work, is from the same opus as his excellent A Mercy of Peace and It Is Truly Fitting, also for men's chorus. Although subtitled in the monastic style, this easily accessible setting has just enough piquant harmony to make things interesting.
